Yes, indeed! As we all know, the Fighters Foo have been working on a new record set to release early 2011.  On December 21st, 2010 the band will play a secret show in the Los Angeles area.  How do YOU get in? (more…)

What!?  You don’t know what Pop-Up Video is!?  In my opinion, Pop-Up Video was one of the best shows in the 90’s on any Music Network, when music videos was what the networks mainly focused on.  It was nothing like the MTV or VH1 of today, where all you see is reality shows about dating, dysfunctional roommates, and fat and/or crackhead celebrities  At one point, Pop-Up Video was the highest rated show on VH1 before Behind The Music took that spot in 1998.  So what ever happened to the popular bubbles (or “info-nuggets”, as they were offically called) of the 90’s? M.I.A has beef with Lady Gaga

Apparently, the Sri-Lankan artist has got it in for the Queen of Eccentricity.  For what reason, you ask?  For not having enough originality.  She claims, “she’s not progressive… none of her music’s reflective of how weird she wants to be or thinks she is. She models herself Grace Jones and Madonna, but the music sounds like 20-year-old Ibiza disco.”  Who would win in a fight?

Date Night

Clash of the Titans’ short-lived #1 spot at the movies ended last night when Date Night took over bringing in over $27 million.  Pretty decent for a movie that wasn’t hyped much.  Tina Fey and Steve Carell are an unstoppable force off screen, so it comes as no surprise that they were able to pull these kinds of numbers.   (more…)

Yes, I AM talking about those little teeny boppers of 1997.  The Hanson that had everyone humming the tune to that ridiculously catchy, but annoying song, “Mmm-Bop”. They were the Justin Beibers of the 90’s.  You couldn’t believe that as girly as they looked (à la Beiber), girls wanted them.  Ohh, ho ho man, did I hate these mutherf*ckers.  But like I said, they DID have a catchy tune, and even though I would have died before every admitting it back in the day, the song is good.  Maybe I was just being a “hater” because these kids had done something that I, at the time, hadn’t yet in my “Rock Band” days.  For all you younger readers, this is no reference to any music-based video game.  I’m talking about actual instruments plugged into actual amps.  Enough reminiscing though.  So what ever happened to, I-don’t-know-what-a-barber-shop-is-Hanson? Quick news on some upcoming releases:

Foo Fighters plan to release a new album in 2010, or early 2011 working once again with their favorite producer Butch Vig (The Color and the Shape 1997, E.S.P.G 2008), drummer of Garbage.  Dave Grohl mentioned this would be one of their heaviest albums to date.

Jay-Z and Dr. DreDr. Dre and Jay-Z, two of the biggest names in Hip-Hop are collaborating on a track for Dre’s new album, Detox, later this year as well.  How long has it been since we’ve seen any new material from Dre? Seriously…

Courtney Love / Photographed for SPIN by Daniel JacksonHole and Stone Temple Pilots have upcoming CD’s after extended hiatuses.  Hole’s last album, Celebrity Skin, was released in 1998, while Stone Temple Pilots Shangri-la-dee-da was released in 2001.  Hole’s, Nobody’s Daughter, is to be released April 27, STP’s self-titled album, on May 25.

Armenian-American, Serj Tankian, talented frontman for L.A.-based System of a Down, is now in the mixing stage of his newest solo album, Imperfect Harmonies.  No word yet on a release date, but it seems to be shaping up to be as anticipated as his very well-received first album, Elect the Dead.
