As I sat at work, eating my lunch today, I read my El Pollo Loco cup: “Flame-Grilled Mexican Chicken.” Really? So you mean to tell me that ALL the chicken being served at El Pollo Loco are born and raised in Mexico or are of Mexican decent? After all, it is stated right there on the cup, not to mention the countless other places they’ve branded with their logo. We all know that if the slogan referred to their style of cooking, the correct phrase would run along the lines of “Mexican-Style Flame-Grilled Chicken.” Obviously the top dogs at company headquarters are smart enough to know the difference between the two, so clearly these poultry-grilling experts know what they’re talking about. Therefore, I have come to believe that I have cracked their secret recipe! Mexican chicken taste better than any other clucking bird! I guess that must be why their signature taste is so unique. Those Mexican chickens really add that extra kick of flavor! So there you have it. Next time you are savoring a juicy, citrus marinated leg or thigh, know that it is not the variety of carefully selected and prepared ingredients that add all the taste to your food, but that it’s all in the nationality of the meat! So say no to those Norco chickens; don’t bother with those darn Chino chickens. There’s nothing like 100% authentic Grade-A Mexican chicken!
